Heinrich & Co Selb Antique Vase with Bluebirds
This large statement vase made of Bavarian porcelain in 1917 features a dramatically dark midnight blue with a powdery matte finish and a four-inch band of gold with delicately rendered bluebirds and pink blossoms painted in fine detail around the vase's neck. The vase flares out at the base into a square with its four stretched out corners making feet to support the tall vase. This mold was unique to Heinrich & Co and is instantly recognizable as a product of that porcelain maker. The squared base and round rim feature gold trim. The dark (almost navy) blue paint is well worn in certain areas (conveyed accurately in the photos here). This remarkable piece measures 13 inches tall with a 5 inch wide base and 4 inch diameter rim.
