This beautifully crafted, slightly kitsch Vintage Italian-made porcelain Basket of Roses adorned with a pair of Doves is marked with the crowned "N" Nuova Capodimonte mark underneath. These were really popular in the 60s and 70s as revival pieces inspired from the famed 18th century Naples-based porcelain makers of the same Capodimonte name. This particular piece is a real show-stopper. It's quite large at 17" long, 13" wide, and 13" high. The porcelain basket is white with shadowy accents and the bouquet comprises an abundance of foliage with Six large fully bloomed roses in yellow (2), pink (2), orange, and Mauve/yellow plus a blooming rosebud in pink at the top. The pair of doves are in a white color and sit elegantly facing each other atop the bouquet with tails fanned.
The delicate porcelain centerpiece has a few small condition issues as follows (please note photos of yellow roses in particular where the two most noticeable flaws occur): There are 5-10 teensy chips, one noticeable chip (one yellow rose) and one repaired petal (the other yellow rose). There also appears to be an unintended paint spot on the rose bud that I assume to be a mistake made while applying the eyes on the doves. Also consider it needs a careful, deep cleaning. We've given it an initial cleaning, but this item requires a time-consuming deep cleaning (lots of nooks and crannies where dust hides) to be brought to its full potential.
This sculpture is extremely fragile with fine petal and leaf points that easily chip off. For this reason, extra care will be taken in shipment. Please don't hesitate to reach out to request further details.
