This very unique hand-painted porcelain jewelry box features an image on the lid that I find intriguing, but frankly don't understand. Still, It's compelling with a lady's side profile with a bouffant of brown hair that extends into an image of a small collection of a book and scroll? The taupe hues are subtle and sober yet warm and soft. The box has rounded corners and a slightly curved, ruffled edge. The underside (not pictured) offers no information about the maker. There appears to be a worn off signature that I can't make out. Happy to share photos of the underside on request, but there's really nothing there. Measures 5 inches x 3.5 inches, and 2 inches high.
Excellent vintage condition - minimal signs of wear, free of cracks and chips. Just wear to the paint.
