This extraordinary thick porcelain piece features hand painted traditional oriental court life scenes alongside carefully rendered natural motifs such as flowers and seashells in primarily pinks and gold hues. Hand made in China with classic chinoiserie motifs. I cannot overstate how large and heavy this gorgeous vase, ginger jar, is. The gilt foo dog topped lid weighs eight pounds alone. It comes with its own wooden stand allowing for a secure snug lift off the floor.
The total height including stand and foo dog is 42 inches (about 32 inches not including the wooden stand) and the vessel measures 17 inches wide at its widest.
